i know i'm a little bit behind the power curve on this one, but i just want
to comment on what a delightful album this is. i've been a big fan since
sidonie, and have enjoyed most all of his ouput, especially the
zealelectronic eggplant, but i think this is his best yet.
the threads of piano, guitar, live drums and vox throughout give this thing
a heartbeat that is missing from a lot of the laptop schlock coming out
these days. even the vocals (not great, but good) give new emotional
meaning to a couple of old standby tracks. (i wonder if the lyrics were
written later to further document the original song feeling, or originally?)
i find "blinded by beats" to be just that, blinding.
the extended bongtoke adlib double triplet jam, take your time, is a journey
too.
all in all great stuff, and i hope he sticks with this slightly refined
direction.
respect,
